Skateboarding dogs as such are a sight to behold but the lazy English bulldog is an even more hilarious sight.
Even if English bulldogs are generally considered lazy, they can be surprising at times.
Whether it is because they have figured out it's easier to push yourself around on a skateboard than have to run or because they love having their tongues flapping in the wind, there are quite a few skateboarding bullies out there.
Bullies are very intelligent dogs but even if some feel that they are difficult to train due to their stubbornness it's not the learning part they have a problem with.
Otherwise you couldn't train one to skateboard.
The problem comes in the execution, in other words bullies tend to want to do things when they want and not when you want.
Unless of course you really want him to do it, but he will take a long time doing whatever you want if he is not in the right mood.
They do have certain advantages over other dogs for such a sport though.
Due to their stocky bodies, low center of gravity and strength they have better balance and can more easily "manipulate" the skateboard.
Their stubborn streak is also an asset in this case since they will not give up until they succeed, especially if they are having fun.
English bulldogs, even if they are lazy, are very playful dogs, albeit at a different pace than other pets and for a lot less time per day.
This, of course, means that if they are introduced to a skateboard as puppies for them to play with it they will love it and the learning process will be easier.
Even if their demeanor is, shall we say aggressive, they are actually extremely gentle and loving dogs.
As all dogs they love to please their master and family but English bulldogs become even more attached to their family and therefore will wish to please you to no end.
But you must not force him to do things he is uncomfortable with.
If he will not even stand on the skateboard it may be wise to just let it go and find some other activity you can enjoy together since he may just not have the "talent".
These dogs are among the best pets you can have.
They are incredibly loyal and they are amazingly gentle with children.
Although they are not known as guard dogs they still protect what they consider theirs and that generally means you.
Even if they are highly social with everyone including every man, woman and child in the street they can quickly change demeanor if they feel a threat.
And what better guard dog than an English bulldog barreling towards a perceived threat at high speed on a skateboard.
Who needs teeth?
