I have always had a dog in my life.
When I was born my mom had a black lab.
Later when that dog died shortly after another puppy was brought home.
Recently I bought a house and it didn't feel quite right not having a dog so I decided to get a dog.
My first dog was an American German Shepard Black Lab mix.
She quickly grew to be over 140 pounds as a puppy and had to find a new home.
So I set off to find another dog.
Having learned my lesson I thought a better choice would be an adult dog.
I searched and found a female 3 year old lab mix.
Bella is a great dog but does have some problems.
Namely, separation anxiety.
I quickly found out that there is not a lot of information about separation anxiety floating around on the internet.
After thinking further I decided to get a playmate for Bella.
After searching further I went to another animal shelter and found Foxy.
Foxy is a red/brown husky akita mix and was 1 year old when I got her.
Foxy and Bella play great together.
They both enjoy running around in the back yard, going on walks, going to the dog park and chasing squirrels.
Now having two dogs in the house it feels more like a home.
For those looking for a dog I would highly recommend looking at animal shelters.
A couple great reasons are they want you to keep the dog so if it doesn't work out in the first couple of weeks most of them encourage returning the dog.
Second, you generally get to see how the dog behaves around other humans and other animals.
Last, the cost is going to be cheaper than some other options.
Good luck in finding your next dog.
