Perhaps the first step an owner will take, after finding that perfect name, is to potty train the dog.
While some might think of this as the not so attractive stage of owning a dog, others know that it is the initial bonding process.
Making potty training a positive experience for both the owner and dog is rather imperative.
With a little know-how, and the effort to match, there is no reason this experience should be a bad one.
To help ensure it is positive, here are a few tips that are sure to help with quickly and effectively potty training that new puppy.
It is important to begin potty training as soon as that new puppy comes home.
While some owners might cut the new addition some slack the first few days, it is these first few days that will really help ingrain the idea of potty training into the puppy, as well as the owner.
With this in mind, a daily routine should be established to help with the training.
This should include scheduled feeding, as well as potty breaks outside.
As the puppy gains more bladder control, and gets used to the scheduled feeding and potty breaks, it will be easier for the owner to try and schedule those breaks around their day and when they will be home.
After every meal and/or drink, the puppy should be taken outside, preferably where the owner would like the puppy to use to bathroom.
This should be done about 15-20 minutes after the puppy is done eating or drinking, it does not take long for the food and water to digest and run through their systems.
It should be expected that there are going to be accidents indoors, from time to time.
