- The Peticure tool was developed to safely and easily clip a dog’s nails. Anyone who has ever used the old traditional type dog nail clipper knows how difficult it is. The nails are hard to clip because they're so thick; accidentally cutting the quick is a possibility. Yet nail clipping is a necessary evil to keep your dog in good health. Overgrown nails can contribute to many problems including deformed feet, hip and back problems and torn nails.
- The Peticure is nothing more than a a battery-operated dremel-type nail buffer with an innovative plastic shield. The dog’s nail is inserted in an opening on the Peticure to file it down. The dog's hair doesn't get caught in the spinning rotor, because of the design. The Peticure removes the enamel on the nail in thin increments to avoid removing too much. The nail ends up being smooth and shaped to a round finish. Regular use of the tool will actually make the quick recede. The quick is the sensitive nerve ending inside the dog’s nail.
- The Peticure tool can be used when you want and for as little or as much as you want. Sit down with your dog for a few minutes each day to get the nails in shape. After that you can casually keep the nails in good shape using the device once every couple of weeks.
- The Peticure is designed to catch the dust from the filing. You don’t have to breathe it or clean it up. Simply empty the container after each filing.
- It’s best to start using the Peticure slowly. Warm your dog up to it. Take a designated five-day period to get him or her used to the idea. Every day, bring the Peticure tool near the dog and turn it on. Do it for a minute the first day and then gradually add another minute or more depending on the tolerance of your dog. By the end of the five days, gently pick up one of the dog’s paws and start to file. Don’t force the dog. If he pulls away, that’s fine. Tell him he’s a good boy and give him a treat. Over these few focused days, if done correctly, your dog should become accustomed to the Peticure.
