I know that my Mastiff loves to bark when he is in his crate when I have to leave the house.
The main reason why they would be expressing pleasure is if they are very happy about something happening inside of the home.
I know that for me my dogs all of them go absolutely nuts when I come home from being out shopping and I know that they are barking to express this happiness that they have that I am home from my trip.
Which is really nice because I know then how much my dog loves me and he is expressing this to me.
