- 1). Establish where you want your Labrador Retriever to urinate or defecate. This area will most likely be in a gated backyard attached to the house.
- 2). Take your Labrador Retriever to the area you selected every 45 minutes so he can do his business. It is especially important to take him out after eating or drinking, playtime, and after waking up.
- 3). Praise your Lab enthusiastically if she does go in the toilet area you choose. This is very important. Don't scold for not going or for having an accident; a puppy especially won't understand, and this may set back training.
