Canine Urinary Tract Infection A Canine Urinary Tract Infection is actually relatively common in dogs just like it is in humans.
It is estimated by some experts that it can be seen in as many as 2% of dogs which makes it a very common condition.
Below are some of the causes of the condition.

• This condition can be caused when unhealthy bacteria is passed through the tube that passes urine from the body - this tube is referred to as the Urethra
• This bacteria will start causing an infection in the Urethra before the infection then passes into the bladder causing an infection there too.
  
• After an infection as occurred this will cause the Urethra to become inflamed.
  Due to the inflammation the tube will become thinner making it much more difficult for your dog to urinate - as the urine can't pass through as easily.
  
• Urine contains small crystals and as the urine finds it more and more difficlut to pass through the Urethra the crystals will start sticking to the side of the Urethra causing more blockages and more problems passing urine.
  
• The passing of the urine actually helps to clean the Urethra but as it becomes more difficult for your dog to urinate, more bacteria will develop as the urine will normally kill any bacteria.
  

The signs and symptoms of the condition

• You may notice urine leakage when your dog moves around the House.
  
• The urine may smell stronger than normal.
  
• Your dog may develop a fever
• Your pooch may get tired more easily
• You may even notice that blood appears in the urine.
